Meal boxes need to be revolutionary—viewing the second international pulp molding technology and equipment products

The 2nd International Pulp Molding New Technology and Equipment Products Exhibition organized by China Food Packaging Machinery Industry Association Pulp Molding Machinery and Products Branch was held in Beijing. More than 100 related companies and more than 50 exhibitors gathered together. Mr. Joseph Grygn y, chairman of the International Pulp and Plastic Packaging and Environmental Packaging Association, attended the exhibition and gave a speech.

The reporter interviewed a number of companies at the meeting. The most talked about them was policy, and the most thought was cost.

A sales manager of a paper molding company from Xuzhou told the reporter: If there is no “No. 6” order, there will be no development in the pulp molding industry; but if the current cost does not fall again, the pulp molding industry will also come End. This sounds a bit mysterious, but it is not an exaggeration.

Industrial adjustment triggers inflationary effect

On January 22, 1999, the State Economic and Trade Commission issued the "Order No. 6", which announced the first batch of backward production capacity, technology, and product catalogs. The disposable foam plastic tableware was included in the deadline phase-out project and it was stopped by the end of 2000. use. This order came out, from the industrial sector to all walks of life a loss, do people really need to change the lunch box? People are arguing and watching. There are also many people who seem to see the huge business opportunities. As a result, various types of alternatives have been launched, and the "environmental protection lunch box" that has been rushed into the market has begun to show signs of disorderly competition.

In November 19th the same year, the national standard emerged. The two national standards, "General technical conditions for disposable degradable tableware" and "Test method for degradation performance of disposable biodegradable tableware," were issued and formally implemented on January 1, 2000. Previously, the State Development Planning Commission and the State Economic and Trade Commission had decided that before a national standard for disposable degradable tableware was formally promulgated, such projects would be newly built or expanded throughout the country, regardless of the size of the investment or the source of funds, all applications would be suspended for approval. For projects, banks at all levels must not make loans, and import equipment must not be released. However, this decision did not contain the inflationary effect of “No. 6 Order”. Only the pulp and film and plastics industry has grown from the original dozens of companies to more than 300 companies, with an annual production capacity of 3 billion, and its production scale. The potential has been able to compete with EPS lunch boxes, plus four “brothers” such as light-biological biodegradable plastic tableware, plant fiber-type tableware, starch-based tableware, and cardboard-type tableware, and its production scale has far exceeded that of disposable foaming. Plastic production scale.

The introduction of the policy is only the beginning. The real war is still behind. For now, the disposable tableware market has entered the Warring States Period, and the five brothers have begun to hurry.

The cost price determines the market scope

In the exchanges with the delegates, it was learned that the cost of the product was the key to whether the product could be sold out. Under the current dual-track system, foamed plastic lunch boxes are sold for only 0.08 yuan each because of their low cost. They have an absolute advantage in price, and they have excellent quality, so they still have a place, especially in the fast food industry. It is a foamed plastic product, which accounts for about one-third of the total market; while in the railroad sector where a large quantity of lunch boxes are used, the railway department has stressed that the lunch box “substitutes paper for plastic” and stimulates the moulding of pulp molded lunch boxes. Demand. However, this is not the sphere of influence of paper molders. The light-biological degradable polypropylene plastic lunch boxes that compete with them are popular because they are relatively inexpensive and are used on railway passenger trains. In the airline industry, The high added value of the industry itself requires high-quality disposable lunch boxes, which makes the cardboard-type tableware, which dominates the material, popular. It seems that pulp molded lunch boxes are in an invincible position and need to reduce costs if they want to stand up in the market.

So, where is the reduction from the most practical? Relevant experts pointed out that the cost of pulp molded lunch boxes is nothing less than three aspects: First, mechanical equipment; Second, the additives used in manufacturing; Third, business management. In these three links, the high cost of machinery and equipment is one of the reasons for the higher price of pulp molded products; secondly, the cost of additives is too high. It is said that the additives developed by Dalian Oasis Group can lower the price of imported auxiliaries by 70%, without affecting the quality of the lunch boxes. If so, the cost will be greatly reduced. But for now, it is very difficult for companies to do this. Therefore, there are currently phenomena in which companies compete for market share and they try their best to compete for prices.

There is a metaphor that can explain the problem: If the machinery manufacturing enterprises and product companies are separated and 500 cc of blood are input respectively, after two years of development, the machinery manufacturing enterprises will not only have a small surplus, but will have a slight surplus, while the product companies will only be left. 100cc! An entrepreneur from Wuhan told reporters: "Since we built a factory in 1996, we have been in a state of loss and a half loss, so that we would like to occupy the market after the end of the year when foam plastic lunch boxes have left the market. The biggest share of the company is that if the country’s industrial policy cannot be fully implemented by then, we will be in a bad situation!"

Environmental products are not perfect

In the seminar of the exhibition, Mr. Li, a special advisor of Dalian Oasis Food Packaging Co., Ltd., took note of the reporter's speech on “Say a few words for the “short” of paper-based fast food equipment”. Which of the two broad categories of alternatives is more environmentally friendly and competitive?

After reading relevant information, the reporter found that: From the point of view of the impact of the whole process of product production and use on the environment, as far as paper cutlery and plastic cutlery are concerned (the current production of other types is not yet in scale), the raw material production of both will have an impact on the environment. A lot of pollution: The former showed that the pulp molding is based on pulp board as a raw material, papermaking itself brings a lot of pollution; the latter shows that the original plastic industrial pollution emissions, the complexity of the composition of pollutants. Although the proportion of the two in the production of paper and plastics industry is small, it is also a problem that cannot be ignored. The current method can only be to implement "three simultaneouss" for the pollution control of three wastes, and to renovate the old pollutants within a time limit, and shut down and stop production without reaching the standards.

How to deal with disposable tableware can be done without pollution? In addition to innovation in materials, efforts should also be made in recycling.

From the current two major categories of five types of alternatives, the recycling work is still urgent. If the strict recovery system can be effectively implemented, recycling will also produce huge economic benefits.

Take the pulp molding lunch box in terms of the material is reed, bagasse, wheat straw, adding the appropriate additives, can also be made into tableware after copying, a variety of good performance; instead of foam plastic material, can be made after recycling Low-grade plastic utensils, especially CT utensils, are characterized by high strength and high temperature resistance. They are easy to recycle and can be used as office furniture and building decoration materials. Plant fibers and starches have advantages, and they can be used as feed after use. It can also be used as an auxiliary fuel. If it is not recycled, it can be degraded into fertilizer in the natural environment and the soil can be used as fertilizer. In this way, both the “white pollution” issue that has long plagued us and the economic benefits that can be achieved, while at the same time addressing both the symptoms and the root causes.
