Recently, Budapest designer Nora Kaszanyi created a unique and beautiful packaging for the album Mikrokosmos, one of the greatest composers of the twentieth century, Béla Bartók. The album consists of six discs with a total of 153 piano pieces. Visually geometric shapes are printed on the cover of each disc, and they are neatly placed in a strikingly simple 3D printed album box.
This audiovisual project is Kaszanyi's last project to obtain a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design. She explained in the famous design community Behance: "By combining the letterpress and music visualization, I used the pattern to interpret Bartok's masterpiece."

Perhaps you have noticed that each of the prominent shapes on the 3D printed album box is identical to the contour shape on the cover of each disc. For example, the cover shape of the disc 1 is a rectangle, the disc 2 is an irregular diamond shape, and the disc 3 is a diamond shape. One commentator pointed out that these visual graphics are reminiscent of the classic album cover: Joy Division's Unknown Pleasures album cover. The black line graphics are decorated with white or gray, and the graphics move toward sound waves. You can also distinguish letters and words.
Kaszanyi explained that “the visual geometric elements on the cover of each disc are built into a single-point grid system that symbolizes the structure of the universe. The outline shape on the cover echoes the disc theme, which mimics each disc. The sound movement of the piano theme song."
Kaszanyi claims that her goal this time is to create a music booklet that not only looks interesting and eye-catching, but also combines the motives of music and sound itself. The visual graphics on the cover of each disc are inspired by sound waves, and the six discs are joined together by a bold 3D print box. Bartol's Mikrokosmos album never seems so cool.
