Where is the green standard for waterborne paints?

Recently, the State Environmental Protection Administration issued a new green standard for waterborne coatings. Since 1994, the first time environmental labeling standards for waterborne coatings were promulgated, and the second time it was promulgated in 1999, VOC limits have been stipulated, and they have been promulgated for the third time, showing a step-by-step improvement and approaching the international level. There are three new ones.
The first is the VOC index that is most concerned about all aspects. Due to unclear definitions, many companies think that their products have reached a level higher than international standards. This misunderstanding originated from two influential standards for hazardous substances in interior paints promulgated by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China, and the Safety and Health Quality Evaluation Rules promulgated by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Quality Supervision. The VOC is defined as the content of VOCs in one liter of paint. . However, the definition of VOCs in various countries in the world refers to the VOC content of dry weight of water deducted from a litre of paint. This difference leads to Beijing's VOC ≤ 125 g/l but it is equivalent to 250 g/l in foreign countries. It is the boundary between foreign waterborne coatings and solvent coatings. The national mandatory standard of 200 g/L, which is equivalent to more than 410 g/L in foreign countries, has already exceeded the limits of water-based coatings. Therefore, many people rely solely on numerical values to say that the 250 g/L limit stipulated by the 1999 environmental labeling standard is wider than the Beijing rules and national mandatory standards. Because of the same VOC measurement criteria as the international standards, the 1999 environmental labeling standards were actually stricter than the above two mandatory standards. The 2002 environmental labeling standards stipulated that the interior wall paints should be ≤100 g/L, according to the US ASTM method. Correctly calculate and calculate the VOC value. The limit is the same as the U.S. standard. It is more stringent than the above two standards, reflecting the high standards and strict requirements of the green recommended product.
Secondly, with respect to benzene, toluene, xylene, ethylbenzene, halogenated hydrocarbons, formaldehyde and formaldehyde polymers, and heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, chromium, and mercury, it is not clear to the public that these cannot be added, so there is no high and low content The difference is that only compliance with the rule of “no addition” is abided by. Many companies use these indicators as the basis for health coatings, and they also do not meet the requirements of water-based coatings. To this end, the SEPA standards clearly state that all of the above substances are only to control the limits of harmful substances brought in by impurities, that is, to limit the harmful substances such as pigments, titanium dioxide, and emulsions that are impurely brought in by the components. It is absolutely not allowed. Artificially added.
The third is the scope of waterborne coatings. In addition to widely used interior wall and exterior wall coatings, waterborne wood coatings, water-based anti-corrosion coatings, water-based waterproof coatings, and water-borne polyurethane coatings are also in the scope of green recommendation standards. In the case of the waterborne wood lacquer alone, in the 2004 Olympics in Athens, water-based wood lacquer was designated for all venues. Because of the home decoration, Germany and France have stipulated that the smell of organic solvents should not be left to the right. In order to adapt to this people-oriented trend, more support for all types of water-based coatings is the goal of this new standard.
There are still many more nuanced professional issues that need to be explored in relation to the water-based paint standard, and more professionals are required to participate, especially those engaged in analytical work. Because the people enjoy science and enjoy the green, they are all based on accurate and accurate inspection reports. Only in this way can more reliable products be introduced.
