U.S. Develops High Barrier Composites

The United States currently develops a new nylon composite AegisOX, which can be used in PET and other packaging fields. The composite material is an activation/passivation barrier material with high barrier properties, nanoclay is used as a passivation barrier layer, and synergistic effect is obtained with an appropriate oxygen absorbent as an activator. The material can reduce the oxygen transmission rate (OTR) of PA6 by 100 times, and the oxygen infiltration amount is almost zero. The core used in three-tier beer bottles shows a shelf life of up to 80 days.
