Soil respiration is an important component of the carbon cycle of terrestrial ecosystems. With the global warming trend gradually becoming obvious, the spatiotemporal variation of soil respiration and its response to temperature changes have become one of the important contents of ecological research. Using the LI-8100 automatic soil CO2 flux measurement system, the soil respiration time dynamics of poplar (Populus sp.) And elm (Ulmus pumila) artificial protective forests in the newly cultivated oasis of Junggar Basin were measured for two consecutive growing seasons, and the soil was analyzed. The results show that: The daily fluctuations of soil respiration of the two forest stands show certain irregularities; the seasonal changes show an obvious single-peak pattern. The soil respiration rate in poplar woodland was significantly higher than that in elm forest, and the average soil respiration rate in growing season was 3.71 and 1.82 μmol CO2 · m–2 · s–1, respectively. The seasonal changes in soil respiration of the two forest types showed a significant exponential correlation with air temperature and soil temperature at different depth levels, but not with soil moisture. The soil temperature of 50 and 35 cm can explain 78.5% and 64.4% of the changes of soil respiration time of the two stands respectively, which is close to the common interpretation rate of soil temperature and water content. The difference in soil respiration rate between forest stands is affected by forest growth, photosynthesis, and soil salinity. The research results preliminarily clarified the seasonal dynamic characteristics and main influencing factors of soil respiration of typical oasis shelterbelt vegetation in the arid area of ​​Junggar Basin, and provided a theoretical basis for further revealing the characteristics of forest soil carbon cycle in this area.
