How does the laboratory instrumentation distinguish different microscopes?

The difference between a biological microscope and a metallographic microscope is mainly in the way of illumination and the objective lens:

1. The biological microscope uses transmissive illumination. It is generally used to observe time-transparent and translucent samples. It cannot be used to observe opaque objects. The metallographic microscope is mainly for epi-illumination. The light source is emitted from the objective lens and is mainly used to observe opaque samples. The surface, of course, also has a higher-grade metallographic microscope with a transmissive illumination that can be used to simultaneously observe transparent samples.

2. From the objective lens, the high magnification objective lens of the biological microscope considers the thickness of the coverslip (0.17) and the thickness of the slide and the culture vessel (1.2), so the objective lens is usually marked with /0.17 (upright microscope), / 1.2 (inverted microscope), orthophoto microscope 10 times or less objective lens is /-, that is, it can be ignored, this is to correct the effect of glass on light refraction, and the objective lens of metallographic microscope is usually marked with /0.

The difference between a biological microscope and a stereo microscope and a metallographic microscope is also called a stereo microscope. The main differences from the biological microscope are as follows:

First, the working distance of the stereo microscope is large, usually can reach 50mm or even 150mm; and the working distance of the object detected by the biological microscope rarely exceeds 20mm.

Second, stereo microscopes can place taller, thicker objects, such as integrated circuit blocks, larger workpieces, screws, thicker objects, etc., while biological microscopes can only place sheets, slides, and so on.

Third, the stereo microscope has a wide range of depth of field, up to a depth of field of 10mm, and the focus ring can be adjusted. A fairly large range can see a clear image; while the biological microscope may slightly rotate the focus ring, it is not clear.

Fourth, the stereo microscope can see stereoscopic images because of the wide range of depth of field. However, the magnification is small, and the maximum magnification of the stereo microscope is about 200 times. The maximum magnification of the biological microscope is generally about 2000 times. The characteristic parameters of the biological microscope are exactly opposite to those of the stereo microscope. Therefore, the range of adaptation of stereo microscopes and biological microscopes is different, and the structure of the lenses is also different.
