Scientists discover immunoglobulin IgM receptor

The research team of Wang Jiyang, Department of Immunology, School of Basic Medical Sciences, Fudan University, discovered the receptor for immunoglobulin IgM in the latest research. Immunoglobulin IgM is known as the body's "first line of defense" against viral and bacterial infections. When IgM is combined with the receptor, it can not only promote the body's immune function, but also inhibit its own "harmful" antibody production. This research is of great significance for the treatment of human immunodeficiency and autoimmune diseases. Related results were published online in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

It is understood that immunoglobulin IgM is the earliest antibody in the initial immune response. After IgM antibody directly binds to the pathogen, it can inhibit the activity of the pathogen, prevent its onset and development, and can dissolve the pathogen through a special way to prevent the expansion of the infection. As early as 40 years ago, scientists around the world discovered that there is an IgM receptor on the surface of B lymphocytes, and there is evidence to support this inference, but it has not been found.

Wang Jiyang's group used gene knockout technology to successfully breed a knockout mouse lacking the "FcμR gene", and analyzed the immune function and autoantibodies that this mouse would produce in the absence of the gene. result. After three years of hard work, they finally discovered the receptor gene FcμR for the first time.

The study found that when foreign pathogens invaded the FcμR gene-knockout mice, there was an obvious immunodeficiency, and their antibodies dropped to less than 1/3 of normal mice. Further studies have shown that this immunodeficiency is due to the fact that after the FcμR gene is knocked out, B lymphocytes are not easy to be activated after being stimulated by foreign pathogens, but also cause death. In contrast, knockout mice lacking the FcμR gene will produce a large amount of harmful autoantibodies without any stimulation, including antinuclear antibodies and anti-DNA antibodies that may produce harmful systemic lupus erythematosus or classes that induce arthritis Rheumatic factors, etc.

Relevant experts said that in the future, IgM receptors on the surface of B lymphocytes can be activated to promote the production of beneficial antibodies in the body to enhance human immunity, or inhibitory antibodies can be used to treat various immunity caused by abnormal activation of B lymphocytes. Sexual diseases.

Aluminium foils are used to wrap food items because aluminium being a soft malleable metal it can be beaten to in sheets to form thin wrapping sheets. Moreover it does not react with food items. Immersion rods are made of metallic substances metals are good conductors of heat and electricity.

Increasingly, aluminum foil is being merged with flexible films to create lightweight packages. This technology allows the packages to expand during production, then contract as the product is consumed.  The packaging of pet food, tuna, coffee and soups alone produces 13 billion packages that are candidates for replacement with flexible foil-based packages.

Aluminum foil provides a complete barrier to light, oxygen, moisture and bacteria. For this reason, foil is used extensively in food and pharmaceutical packaging.

Benefits of Aluminum foil when packaging food

Aluminum packaging is light, flexible and easily recyclable. Furthermore, it is hygienic, non-toxic and helps in keeping the aroma of foods. It keeps the food fresh for a long time and provides protection from light, ultraviolet radiation, oils and grease, water vapour, oxygen and microorganisms.

In addition, have a look at the following advantages:

Aluminum foil reacts only to highly concentrated acids and basic substances and is otherwise strongly corrosive resistant

Aluminum foil is sterile and therefore hygienic

Aluminum foil is tasteless and odorless

Aluminum foil is extremely dimensionally stable even in soft state

Aluminum foil can be recycled several times without loss of quality

Aluminum foil does not absorb liquids

Despite the contrary claims, aluminum foil in food packaging is generally harmless to health. Acid or salty foods should not come into direct contact with aluminium, but composite films with aluminum layer can be used.

Aluminum foils and laminates are ideally suited for the production of packaging, depending on their thickness, aluminum foils and laminates are used for a wide range of food packaging.

Coffee and tea

Instant beverages

Jams and pies

Snacks, biscuits and peanuts

Sausage and dried meat

Soup concentrates

Baby food

Ready meals and preserves
