Vickers Victorinox, the iconic Swiss manufacturer of Swiss Army knives, has a rich history that dates back to 1884, making it over 130 years old. In 1989, the brand introduced its first Swiss Army Knife watch, marking a significant milestone in its evolution. This year, Vickers is celebrating two major anniversaries and launching two new timepieces: the rugged Inox sports watch line and a limited edition dive watch, available in just 500 pieces.
The Vickers Swiss stainless steel knife series watch pays tribute to the 130th anniversary of the company, symbolizing the deep connection between the brand's pioneering spirit and its famous Swiss Army knives. "Inox" is the French term for stainless steel, a material widely used in both blade production and watchmaking. These watches are designed to be truly resilient, having undergone rigorous testing to ensure they can withstand extreme conditions.
Stainless steel watches from Vickers have been tested to endure a drop from 10 meters onto concrete, survive the weight of a 64-ton tank, and resist damage from two hours of exposure to sandstorms and laundry equipment. They also perform well under extreme temperatures ranging from -51°C to +71°C, and can handle acceleration and deceleration of up to 12 Gs. Additionally, the Inox model has passed tests with various corrosive substances, including gasoline, solvents, cleaning agents, and pesticides.
The watch features a 43 mm diameter case, water resistance up to 200 meters, and a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. It comes in black, navy blue, and khaki green dials, paired with a single-sealed rubber strap. The time markings are not inlaid but instead created through mechanical imprinting. The hands and links are meticulously finished, while the lugs are reinforced with cross bars to prevent deformation. A slight shading on the edges protects the crystal and crown. The date window is positioned at 4:30.
Powered by the Swiss Ronda Quartz 715 movement, this watch is priced at $525 and will be available for sale in September 2014. Whether you're an adventurer or a collector, the Vickers Inox watch is a perfect blend of durability, style, and heritage.
