**New Regulations for Jiangsu Salted Duck to Improve Food Safety**
[Chinese Packaging Network News] Yesterday, a reporter from Chinese Packaging Network learned that the Jiangsu Salted Duck Standard is about to be implemented. The Nanjing Duck Association has invited authoritative departments such as provincial health supervision and city quality inspection to conduct training sessions for local salted duck producers. According to the Nanjing Food and Drug Administration, all vacuum-packed salted ducks produced after July 1st must clearly indicate the production date on the packaging bag, along with the local standard for Jiangsu salted ducks.
Previously, there were no specific standards for salted duck, so producers had to follow general national food safety regulations. Now, with the introduction of the local standard DBS32/002-2014, consumers will need to look for this label when purchasing salted duck products. This new regulation aims to ensure product quality and transparency, helping consumers make informed choices.
According to an official from the Shanghai Food and Drug Administration, the lack of specific standards previously led to some brined duck products being incomplete or even missing essential information like the production date. From July 1st onwards, clear labeling requirements have been set for vacuum-packed products. The inner packaging must now include the manufacturing date, while bulk products must be labeled with the product name, production date, shelf life, storage conditions, and proper food handling instructions.
Additionally, all salted duck processing enterprises, small workshops, self-made salted duck restaurants, and stores in key tourist areas will face strict inspections starting July 1st. Officials emphasized that any violations related to the safety and quality of salted duck products will be met with "zero tolerance." These measures are expected to enhance consumer confidence and promote industry compliance with higher hygiene and labeling standards.
