Now, with the introduction of the local standard DBS32/002-2014, consumers will need to look for this label when purchasing salted duck products. According to an official from the Shanghai Food and Drug Administration, the lack of specific standards previously led to some brined duck products being incomplete or even missing essential information like the production date. From July 1st onwards, clear labeling requirements have been set for vacuum-packed products. The inner packaging must now include the manufacturing date, while bulk products must be labeled with the product name, production date, shelf life, storage conditions, and proper food handling instructions. Additionally, all salted duck processing enterprises, small workshops, self-made salted duck restaurants, and stores in key tourist areas will face strict inspections starting July 1st. Officials emphasized that any violations related to the safety and quality of salted duck products will be met with "zero tolerance."
