UK launches RF outlet technology for plastic packaged foods

Starelco, based in Southampton, United Kingdom, recently introduced a new sealing technology for foods wrapped in plastics. This food-plastic packaging method using radio frequency technology provides food packaging companies with a cheaper, safer and more energy-efficient sealing method. Call it "Green Sealing"

The sealing of traditional plastic packaged foods uses polyethylene laminates to melt and seal the plastics. It is necessary to use radio frequency sealing at a high temperature of 150°C~160°C to discard the laminates and to weld the two sides of the package by radio frequency technology. Application of radio frequency sealing technology at a temperature of 50°C can reduce packaging materials by 20% and energy consumption by 75%, which in particular helps to ensure the safety of perishable foods (Hua Ya)
